Scout Guide Book

June 14th, 2010 by aarti

We are honored to be featured in The Scout Guide Book, Vol. 1. It is beautifully done and they did a wonderful job catching the essence of each local business or artist. Check us out on pages 30-31 of the online version here:

http://www.thescoutguide.com/

SCOUT- has just released “The Scout Guide Book”, a print
companion to its popular blog, www.scoutcharlottesville.com. Founded by local-loyal entrepreneur,
Susie Matheson, Scout’s goal is to utilize social networking to benefit small businesses.

“The Scout Guide Book” is an advertising-based publication that functions like a coffee
table book, with design and production values to match. Award-winning creative director and
partner, Christy Ford, captures the energy, commitment, and faces that built some of our favorite
local businesses.

“Connecting real people with people is the goal of SCOUT — yes, it also about the great products,
but it is more about showcasing a community of entrepreneurs who stand shoulder to shoulder to
make this an amazing place to live. Business is an art form; a manifestation of the artistic spirit of
this town. I love these creative people and I’m passionate about celebrating them this way. I want
use the blog and this companion book to sell to the world as a model community for supporting local
businesses.”– Susie Matheson, Founder

“The Scout Guide Book” is not for sale, but will be distributed locally through the
advertisers, hotels, country clubs and favorite hot spots around town.

January Sales to Amazon Conservation Association

January 27th, 2010 by aarti

For the month of January, Angelo will donate 5% of all jewelry sales to the Amazon Conservation Association.

This excerpt from their website helps to illustrate the importance of their mission:
“The world’s largest wilderness moderates the weather where you live. The Amazon Basin pumps oxygen into the atmosphere, scrubs out carbon pollutants, and generates 20% of the fresh water on the planet. At the same time, it is providing a home for nearly a third of the plant and animal species on Earth. Each mature rainforest tree produces enough oxygen for ten people. If we’re going to reverse global climate change, we need the Amazon’s help. And the Amazon needs ours.”

On First Friday, February 5, one of our jewelry artists will be here for a trunk show.  Inspired by nature, Stacey Krantz produces a line of minimalist sterling silver and 18k gold jewelry that is handcrafted using traditional metalsmithing techniques. The designs incorporate fabricated and cast elements, pearls and diamonds into understated, wearable pieces.  We hope you’ll be able to join us!

And don’t forget to see Christine Tucker’s oil paintings! They will be on display through the end of February.
